A WEEK IN JULY.

During the worst heatwave this past week we had to figure out a way to keep little one as comfortable as possible. Our apartment gets incredibly hot in summer, as we are on the top floor and there's no such thing as air conditioning in this city... cold showers were the solution, for all of us! A chilled two minutes in the shower would keep little one from panting and overheating for around 4 hours.  Thursday was the hottest day, maybe ever in Paris?? It got up to 42 degrees...!! Pretty insane. We left little Leo at home on a cold towel and headed out for dinner after the sun went down. Ended up at a little bistro in Menilmontant, an area I haven't explored much at all but would really like to! Felt like it's own little village.  Been keeping up with the Neil-updates for Linda, here mumma bear is reading out loud to him in Swedish :))))  While Leo snoozed on the floor.  After mumma bear left on Friday (after we'd gone for a swim in the canal, amazing!) I drowned my sorrows in the kitchen. Made hummus, haven't made it much before so I'm still experimenting. I think I added a touch too much tahini this time, came out very nutty. But still pretty nice! I used olive oil, salt, pepper, cayenne, cumin, lemon juice and water for a lighter texture. Next time I'll probably do the same, but with less tahini and maybe some fresh coriander!  On Saturday the temperature went down below 20 degrees! Amazeballs thought both Leo and I. Went out for a morning walk without melting! Even wore normal pants!  Made the creamiest scrambled eggs ever yesterday! Used almond milk (terrible in coffee, ok in eggs!), three eggs, feta, mimolette, oregano and thyme. And some home pickled red onion on mine, pickled onion goes with everything. Now you know.  And last out, a little tip, from me to you. Watched a movie called Skin the other night, really interesting and well acted. Good soundtrack too! Been listening to this song, and the whole album (listen on spotify here), it's got major Rodriguez vibes I find. Feels autumn-y as well, the best season. Not complaining about summer, but I can't wait for the colours to start to change... 🍁🍂
