THE 10 DAY MOVIE CHALLENGE.

A while ago my friend Isabella tagged me in a challenge on Facebook, now I don't normally get involved in these things but this one I found interesting! 10 day movie challenge: You are to post just an image, no explanation, from 10 movies that had an impact on you. 10 movies, 10 images.I've finished it now and thought we could go through them here, in short: here's a list of ten of my favourite movies :))))  Day 1: House of a 1000 corpses. The first movie Rob Zombie directed, as you may know by now (in my opinion), everything he touches turns to gold. His wife Sheri Moon Zombie stars (she stars in pretty much all of his movies) and she is just SO COOL. A gory, kitschy horror film and one of my absolute favourites.  Day 2: Moonstruck. The most romantic movie ever made. There, I said it. It's cheesy, it's full of passion, it's young Nicholas Cage & Cher, it's New York City. <3  Day 3: Mary Poppins. I grew up with this classic, it's one of those that I've completely lost count of how many times I've seen. Haven't seen the re-make yet, in spite of raving reviews I'm still a bit sceptical.. how do you re-make something that is already perfect? Day 4: Hunt for the wilderpeople. A little gem from New Zealand, directed by the amazing Taika Waititi. A heartwarming story of son and adoptive dad bonding, in a somewhat unexpected fashion. I can watch it over and over again, it's funny, a bit dark, full of action and beautiful nature shots. Also, the soundtrack is all I play when I sit down to read and/or write, super soothing.  Day 5: The Faculty. Probably the first horror movie I ever saw? It's so ridiculous, it becomes amazing. Super 90s, from the fashion, to the music to the cast (Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Usher?!). Just do yourself a favour and watch it, then keep an eye on friends who start drinking bucket loads of water.... ;)  Day 6: Captain Fantastic. Don't even know where to start with this movie, apart from going so far as to say it's a master piece. Viggo Mortensen is the dad of 6 children, they live in the middle of nowhere where they're home schooled and pretty much cut off from the rest of the world. Something happens though, that forces them back in to "the real world". It's beautifully shot, thought worthy, touching and all round just a beautiful movie. Also, at one point they sing Sweet child o' mine :))))))  Day 7: Chicken Run. From something dramatic, to something quite the opposite. From the guys that created Wallace and Gromit comes this little gem about chickens trying to escape the chicken pie-farm. My brother and I had matching Chicken Run t-shirts when we were little, need I say more?  Day 8: Don Juan DeMarco. I watched this cheesy romance over and over again when I was in high school. I haven't seen it for many years now, so not sure how it's aged.. hopefully not too much though, it does have Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando and Faye Dunaway, so how bad can it be??? I think I need to re-watch it ASAP actually.  Day 9: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The second movie of the Madagascar franchise and by far the best one. Full of one liners, possibly the movie I quote the most in life. A feel good animated movie that never fails to cheer me up!  Day 10: What we do in the shadows.  Another Taika Waititi! This is one that I show to pretty much everyone I know, not one person has complained so far. It's a mockumentary about 4 vampires sharing a house in Wellington, relatable if you've ever had room mates and maybe relatable if you're a vampire too?? Either way, hilarious. Just. Watch. It.  It was so hard narrowing it down to ten movies, but I really enjoyed it. I watch a lot of films and had to really think about what I like. Turns out I love Taika Waititi and kiwi humour in general, I'm also in to 90's cheesy movies and gory horrors. Good mix! What would your list of ten top movies look like?? Hit me with some films I need to watch in 2019!
