Nature's pure Gold - Turmeric

In collaboration with Elexir Pharma Turmeric, which is a classic Indian spice, has the past years been gaining more and more attention as a natural remedy for a wide variety of health complaints. And the more I have been introduced to it the more it have become one of my favorites. Now it is really one of my go-to's in so many areas. The variety of what you can do with it is never ending. I use it for my morning energy health shots, juice, smoothies, cooking (here I mean in everything, chia pudding, granola, soups, salads, stews, fried veggies, rice….), painting, dying clothing, making face masks.. U name it ;-)During times I feel I need an extra boost I have it as supplements too. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a close cousin of ginger, and is the spice responsible for curry’s characteristic yellow color. This bold root has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to ease arthritis, reduce gas, improve digestion, and increase overall energy. For example, one of turmeric’s primary benefits is that it’s a potent anti-inflammatory; one study shows that it’s more effective than common anti-inflammatory medications like Advil (ibuprofen) and aspirin. Thanks to its inflammation-fighting powers, turmeric may help treat various inflammatory conditions. For me during times I want to look after my heath extra much I eat a lot of turmeric, like now for example.  I love starting my day with it in a shot, and if I make it for both me and Manuele I use approx. 1 table spoon of Turmeric powder, squeezed lemon, some grind black pepper and a dash of olive oil / coconut oil - and then shaking it so it all mixes well. The reason why you have black pepper and a dash of oil is to help the body absorb the maximum amount of juiciness. And now during these corona times where I want to stay extra healthy I eat one tablet of Elixir Pharmas Turmeric supplements with my food. These pills are the perfect amount for a daily intake and it is already Bioperine® which is a black pepper extract so your body get the most out of it. Of course you should never ”overdose" any vitamins/health supplies, so if you during a day already eat a lot of turmeric in your cooking you don't need to eat a whole tablet, or just skip that day. For me Turmeric supplements and powder is a must in my traveling stash. Below I share some inspirational food photos to get inspired of what to do with it in the kitchen. Also 3 recipes made by my super talented childhood friend Edita Renlund with instagram account @foodjunkieblog. If you ever need inspiration in the kitchen I highly recommend her food - its beyond delicious. If you want to use it as a facemask there is a few different ones, either just mix manuka honey and turmeric powder. Or for a more advanced one mix 1 tablespoon of rice flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil, squeezed lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of tumeric powder & 1 tablespoon of honey. Of course use organic products <3 It makes your skin feel silky smooth.  You can find Elexir Pharmas products in most health food shops I have been to in Stockholm and if you want to buy them online you can find them at Apotea.se (click for link) for example. I will mark this in every post I do with them that this is a company I have tried out and bought by choice for many years. It is a family friend who started this company many years ago - and I truly recommend their products in general. I also like to support locally produced brands rather than buying imported stuff. Their B12 is also Vegan. You can read about it more on Elexir Pharma's webpage in Swedish HERE (click for link)And if you want to buy the product online you find it HERE (click for link) MORE INFO ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF TURMERIC Why should I boost my body with Turmeric?Turmeric is a very powerful antioxidant. It is actually ten times stronger than vitamins. Antioxidants protect the body from free radicals, the unstable acid molecules that can damage the cells and other important molecules in the body. The colorant curcumin counteracts inflammationCurcumin is what gives the turmeric the yellow color and it is curcumin that counteracts inflammation. This is done by curcumin inhibiting cell secretion by signaling molecules. A process that is central to inflammatory processes. Turmeric is as effective as moderate physical exerciseIn the journal Nutrition Research, an article was published that showed that extracts of turmeric have significant benefits. The health effect of turmeric could be compared to what one gets from moderate physical exercise. Other studies have shown that turmeric inhibits the formation of the inflammatory cox-2 enzyme. Essential for joint healthThe older you get, the more help the joints may need to function properly and maintain their mobility. Turmeric has a documented triple effect on the joints: first the joints are protected by the active substance and second it supports mobility so that it is maintained. Third, turmeric contributes to overall joint health. A strong contributing cause is the documented ability to help the body at work to control inflammatory reactions in the body and reduce the inflammation that causes the trouble. The result is a good spiral - increased mobility thanks to reduced inflammation gives the individual the opportunity for a more active and more moving life. A good health effect in itself Inspirational photos of what you can do with Turmeric
