One method is to keep the existing I/O system and choose a fresh PLC that can direct the older I/O. Within the situation I have detailed above, this really isn't an option for two reasons. First, there isn't a way to replace the PLC having a communications card that would then reassure the new PLC or perhaps PAC. And, second, it is undoubtedly a legacy Remote I/O communications that is also obsolete.
