KNOTFEST IN HELL.

Two weeks ago it was time for one my favourite events of the year (together with Halloween and... hmm... nope, can't think of anything else at the same level!): Hellfest!!! This year looked a bit different from the others as they had teamed up with Knotfest, a travelling festival arranged by Slipknot. It was on the day before Hellfest, at the same venue. So we were there a day early for that :)  Wristbands on and we were in!! Well, actually I already had my wristband from the day before as I had arrived early, but I accompanied Duncan to get his :)))  I say this every single year, but I'm so impressed by everything they build up there. Like it's own little heavy metal village. They'd made some changes this year that we'll take a closer look at later!  Lobster rolls for breakfast 😀 A new addition to the food trucks! Sweden Rock still beats Hellfest in the food department, but I must say they're getting better every year.  A quick walk through of Extreme Market, two big shopping tents. It's always really hot and crowded in there so we normally just walk through and don't really linger.  Bye for now Skully!  One of the news this year was the addition of two big structures, the party tent and the fury tent. Inside there were bars and DJs played every night. A fun addition, but I would have loved to have seen a schedule of what was going on there! I go and see DJ Mike Rock every year, this year we missed him because we didn't know when or where he was playing :(  Anyway, back to camp we go! Here's part of the group we go with every year. Hi guys!  We had gotten a programme so we sat down with a beer, a pen and started le planning. Gotta love le planning.  Break for burgers! D. had brought all kinds of fun stuff from home, we had proper meals at camp most days.  And our friend Sylvain had brought Iron Maiden beer for us ❤🤘 After some eating, drinking and planning we headed back towards where the action was! I stopped to give my shoe to this guy.  After he had finished laughing at the state of it (it's got massive holes...) he started hammering!  Tadaa! I figured that I might as well add some more holes, haha. I love it.  D. stopped to do some shoe drawing! I got really excited about the nice pens (posca! Those who know, know), haha..  ❤ We sat down in the shade at Metal Corner. ❤ Metal Corner. This was one downside of the two new party tents, it meant that MC was only open during the day, instead of being THE party place after the gigs at night. I have so many fun memories from this place, felt a bit sad that it was changing. Oh well, shook off the sad feeling and headed back to camp to wake up Sylvain :))  In to the festival area! Finally! "TURTLE!!!" was a phrase that was shouted a lot. Instead of standing in line for the bars one can get beer from these guys who carry around kegs on their backs. Very practical!  First band! Behemoth! One of Carolina's favourite bands, we were supposed to see them at Sweden Rock a week earlier but they got held up at the airport in Frankfurt so had to cancel... so these pics are for you Carro ❤ Concerts! Sunshine! Beer! Together!  Papa Roach were next up, but I might just slide past that... wasn't a highlight to say the least. But hey, at least they played Last Resort.  Rob Zombie!! Most important gig for me at Knotfest, can't wait for Three from hell to come out in September!!!!!  GREAT gig. Zombie ❤❤ Almost at the end of day one out of four now, phew! Let's take a little walk around the area, shall we?  We've made our way down to Mainstage 1 again for Sabaton!  Sadly the sound wasn't the best for this one, but little did we know, this was not the last we would see of Sabaton this weekend...  Goodnight Sabaton! Thanks for this massive day Knotfest!!
