THE DAY I TURNED 30.

One week ago I turned 30! A bit of a milestone that I was surprisingly anxious about.. now that it's passed though I've barely even thought about it, which is nice. Anyway, lets have a look at what I did for my birthday :)  In the morning Duncan proposed we go for brunch somewhere, but I preferred a slow start to the day. I requested one of my favourite breakfasts: Duncans zucchini and feta-fritters with poached eggs, mmm. We ate, drank Champagne and I danced around in pajamas. Good start to the day <3(part of our Halloween crafts spotted in background, we live in an arts & crafts studio/tip at the moment...)  After a bottle of bubbly and some dancing to 90s hits it was time to brave the outside world. Duncan had gotten two yearlong passes to the zoo for me <3 <3 <3 such a good present. Outside the sun was shining and my phone kept ringing with people singing and wishing me a happy birthday. Felt a bit teary-eyed. :')  Happy almost 30 year old! I was born at 21:10 so I wasn't really a year older at this time :))))All eye make-up had been cried off at this point, on top of the zoo passes D. got me a standing ticket to see Slash & Myles Kennedy in February <3 I just missed out on the tickets and have been searching desperately, D. once again saved the day. <3  We had a packed lunch (I chose fresh baguette with rillette, salami & cornichons) and cold cava with us. It's not every day you turn 30 :) After all the security guys at the zoo had wished me a happy birthday (Duncan felt the need to tell everyone, hehe) we were off to see the animals!!! We RAN to catch the giraffe-presentation (you who know me know I do not run. But apparently I do for giraffes. Who knew!). We listened intently and afterwards Duncan asked what kind of noise they make, to which the expert zoo-guy answered that he didn't really know because they don't make much sound - Fabrice the zebra on the other hand was very loud if we wanted to check him out!  We hung out by the lemurs for a while and learned that they live in a matriarchal society, where for example the females always eat first then the males get whatever is left over. Also the smallest ones are the highest in standing. I think I'd do alright as a lemur :)))  It was feeding time chez les bats. Such. Cool. Creatures. Stood around and made Dracula-jokes for a good ten minutes. Hehe.  One of the toucans came down to see us. I told Duncan about the time I played a toucan in a school play in the fifth grade. I had to stand on a little rock at the front of the stage and give a little monologue. Scary stuff.  Suddenly it was almost dinner time for us humans as well. We waved goodbye to the manatee (or sea cow as its also called <3 <3 <3) and headed on out, that's a blurry post for another time though...
