Chicago for 24 hours

Saturday 9/16Early on Saturday morning, me and Sandra got to BWI airport to get on a plane to Chicago. It was a city both of us had on our bucket list, so after finding decent flight tickets just days before, we went to the Windy City with only make up and money. With that said it was only a trip for the next 24 hours. After arriving in Chicago, Illinois at 7:30 in the morning we booked an uber that took us downtown to a breakfast place we knew had good ratings. While there we waited in a line for about 20 minutes and then we got a table. The brekky was h u g e, so we left a lot of food which I always feel bad about when doing. But it was really really good, so if you ever find yourself in Chicago you should def give Wildberry a visit. When we were done eating we went to Willis Tower - the tallest building in Chicago - to get our touristy day started. We bought tickets for $22 to get up in the skyscraper, and we both agreed on how well spent money that was. Cause let's start off by taking about the view. Holy shi... 410 meters up and you literally saw the whole city (I'd say the whole state but that would be a big fat lie..). We saw the city from a 360° view, and it was amazing. Then we stayed in line to go into this class cube (I don't know how to explain in, but you get what I mean from the pictures above) to take some pictures with the city right under us. Sandra walked out there first and she was all cool about it, and then all suddenly it was my turn. I am a little bit afraid of heights, but I thought I could keep it cool here. But when I stepped out on that glass floor - the only thing that keeps me from falling 410 meters to the ground - my knees got so week that I was about to fall. So I grabbed the "wall", but it was also made of glass hahaha. So I honestly thought for a second I was about to die, ha! The whole line laughed at me, but I guess that's fair.  Both the breakfast and Willis Tower was amazing, so this day had already started off really good. Next up was Cloud Gate, also called The Bean. I first got to know about the Bean when I saw the movie LOL, and same with Sandra. So from Willis Tower we walked there, and it took us about 20 minutes I think. While there it was crowded with tourists, so the pictures didn't turn out that well, and to be honest we weren't very impressed by the sculpture. It was literally a huge shiny bean, but that was pretty much it. Although it was fun to have seen it in real life.In Chicago there is a above ground railroad which goes through the city that we wanted to see more of. So we asked a really nice and talkative lady who worked there if we could go on the platforms without a ticket. She said yes and that she would keep her eyes on us to not get on a train - god forbid us to she said, haha. Walking around in the city was so nice, and the weather was gorgeous (almost too hot though..). We saw everything from the beautiful parks to wealthier areas with fancy stores to the waterfront to a beach. Wait what? That was kind of our reaction, like where did a beach come from? Chicago is right next to Lake Michigan, so it's not that big of a surprise that a beach is connected to a lake, but still, in the middle of a city.. After walking around the city during the whole day we started to get tired. So we went out on this huge pier we knew were close to to get something to eat and to get some breeze from the water. We ended up ordering beers from a cute beer garden and sat there for almost three hours just chilling and talking. Later that night we meet up Sandra friend Annie at the movie theatre to see The Hitman's Bodyguard. I was so tired so I feel asleep for half an hour, but it was a bad movie anyway. When the movie was done we went to the airport go get some hours sleep before it was time to go back home to D.C. I loved Chicago so much that it is now my favorite city in America (Miami is right behind though), so I would absolutely recommend it. It is a lot to do and it's a walkable city, which is a big plus in this country. Over all I'd say it's enough to be there for a day or two, so a weekend is just perfect. Until next time, Chicago.
